My name is Tam Crowe.

I write horror—mostly short, often quiet, and usually the kind that sneaks up on you after you think the story’s already over. My work lives in the space between Appalachian folk horror, psychological dread, and modern unease. Sometimes there’s a little body horror. Sometimes the monster never shows up at all. The land, the past, or the machinery does the job just fine.

I’m drawn to places that feel watched. Old structures. Back roads. Towns that know your name before you introduce yourself. I like stories about curiosity, trespass, memory, and the price of paying attention too closely to the wrong thing.

I’m on Substack because I wanted a place where the work could live openly—where readers can find it, follow it, and come back for more without a gatekeeper deciding whether something is “marketable enough” this week. Flash fiction works best when it’s encountered, not announced. This felt like the right front porch.
